We all know I love riding bikes. Road Bikes, BMX bikes, Track Bikes, I'll even mount the occasional 29'er and smash around a bit. But what lots of people don't know is that bikes are much more than recreational vehicles, a simple way to exercise, or a hip way to "Do your part for the environment" (Whatever that means..) It is no stretch to say that bicycles can be life changing.
Imagine that you must travel miles, (MILES- thats some distance upwards of 10 blocks to all you city folk) to get to clean water, and then carry said water back to your home. This burden is heavy when one must walk the length and back to a well, half the journey with the precious but heavy water in toe.
Now if this person had a cargo carrying bicycle, the journey would be three times as fast (on average) and much less burdensome to undertake.
World Bikes (http://worldbike.org/why-bikes) is an organization that facilitates the ownership of cargo carrying bicycles to people throughout Africa. Hold the phone though, these are not just bikes, not old used Huffy Icebergs or ragged and boned Schwinn Madisons, but NEW, dependable, cargo carrying bicycles.
Take some time to check them out.
Now, onto other news.
I will be departing the US on Monday for Groningen, a large city in the northern province of (you guessed it..) Groningen, Holland. I will be in school at the University of (Uh oh, chance at 2 for 2!) Groningen, a historic university founded in 1614 that now houses over 20,000 students.
Needless to say I am very excited to get there and to travel about the EU this Spring and Summer. I will return in late June. In the eve of this great adventure I will be taking many photographs and putting them on this blog, with (hopefully) many articles and stories of my times. I will be focusing on Fashion and Music, more over, Mens Fashion and Electronic Music.
So stay tuned, I promise I will be a better BLOGMASTER!!!! (Enter GWAR Dragon and Hell Demons)
Kind Regards,
Zac
