Today I'm going to the gym for the first time since leaving home. I've really let myself go since arrival, not in an "Oh Em Geeez Im like Sooooo Fat" way, but more of a, "Why dont I feel like my arms are Thors Hammer's anymore?" kind of way. Bahahaha. But really- with getting back on the running trail, its even more needed to not lose any (more) muscle mass. This may sound rather lame or "bro" to some readers, but my physical state has an extreme effect on my mental state, and so this information is actually rather important in regards to my writing/ your reading.
I also would like to place this seed in your brain, or, at least the brains of you kids that live in Charleston and the surrounding areas. When I get home I'm going to organize a Charleston Urban Sprint Triathlon. This will be, as all tri-aths, a three part race of running, cycling, and swimming. The course will be long enough to be a challenge but not nearly as long as a real tri-ath, making it (hopefully) doable for many of the Holy City's young runners/cyclists/swimmers. The course will not be marked, allowing participants to create their own routes by using an ordered checkpoint system (except for the swimming part). Call it an Alley Cat Triathlon if you will. This will hopefully be around the end of August, so if you want to get down, you still have time to start training, but this event will be more centered around having a good time in the Sun than winning any medals (although taking it serious is totally fine as well!). Let me know if you are interested in racing or volunteering at zacmallard@gmail.com !
