After a long hiatus, its time to get back at it.
Some of you may know, some of you may not, but I haven't just been hibernating. Far from it. I graduated from the College of Charleston in May, and have been writing for a few projects (I Like What You're Wearing, Charleston City Paper, Guau Brewing), working a lot on the Tivoli Project (www.tivolicharleston.com ) and focusing on my visual work, which you can examine at www.zacmallard.com (enough with the links already). So don't give me that "You can't just walk in and out of this family like its a Piggly-Wiggly" jive. You know I love you, baby.
ALL THAT ASIDE
I've decided to come "home".
Drugs and Stereo, no matter how untrendy the layout is, how childlike some of the older posts may be (they're 2 years old, and I'm an emotional guy, alright?), or how incriminating the title is, it's all me. And after a while, that began to disinterest me. I got caught up in living, instead of reporting on living, which, as we know, is great. Splendid. Perfect. However, sometimes we need to record things for ourselves, and the pages and pages of writing on paper are getting cluttered. Lost. Forgotten. Looking at this site every now and again, with a growing frequency as of late, I've begun to hunger for its nagging. The self imposed need to express, for lack of a better term, my own everyday musings.
As you all recall (unless of course you're a new reader, in which case, welcome) the majority of my posts have been on art, writing, travel, cycling, and a lot in-between, with lots of video and photos to keep it interesting. I've been blessed with many opportunities, and this blog (God I hate the word blog. Lets stick with "Site"), as I was, this site, has been here to record those opportunities and share them with my friends, family, and any other interested parties. The golden age of D&S was no doubt the Spring of 2010, when I was away in the Netherlands, getting weird with lots of other foreigners and dealing with all the woes and triumphs a 20 year old white kid from the suburbs deals with.
So why not do it again?
A dear friend, one Hudson Hamrick, and I are departing for France on Sunday the 7th.We will be living and studying with a gentleman named Sacha, learning the finer points of hand woodworking, creating one of a kind Windsor rocking chairs. No, seriously.
So sit back and get ready. The sun is out and its time...
