We made it to France.
It was a long flight, then a bus, then a train, then a bus, then a car to the house. The whole idea of elaborating on what a "long journey" it was seems unneeded. But let it be known, it was a long one.
Then we had our first night.
The eight of us (many more workers than I expected) went to a "lovely ol' bird's" house as Sasha would say. Her name is, well, I'm unsure, but we all call her Bird. So, her name is Bird.
After our long, tiring journey here, we went to Bird's.
The majority of the crowd was hammered. Real hammered. Broking plates and shooting AirSoft guns at each other hammered. Hudson and myself refrained.
I became very nervous that we had just entered a "Animal House" scenario, however, the next morning Sasha had me in the shop refinishing a piano top. Simple work, but great exposure to the amazing wood shop he's built in the 18th century French barn.
Today I helped one of Sashas friends in his house ( a refurbished 19th century hunting lodge) with some drywall and the like, rather mundane. After our work, we went to a larger town, who's name escapes me, and walked about looking like drywall covered immigrant workers. Call it a roll reversal if you like.
Tomorrow we are slaughtering a ram. The thought of it is a bit vulgar, but after 2 days of vegetarian meals, I'm well excited to have some meat. I want to tan the hide, however the fleece would need to be properly cleaned prior to it being useful, not to mention my entire lack of any idea on tanning methods.
Oh well, at least I can help with the whole killing and eating part.
I'll have pictures and video up soon of our trip over, sadly the FlipCam software is being a bother.. But I'll make it work in time, but with the work load, there isnt much time to sit and write on the laptop, let alone fiddle with the footage...
In time my dears.
Until next time,
Zac
It's a trip, everyone is lively, the food is good and plenty, and the work is hard.
